The jewellery-makers among us know how much fun it can be to add a little creative personality to your look with some handmade earrings, or a beautifully beaded necklace… but what if you could give your watch a crafty makeover too? Now you can, with Devon Coverdale’s clever DIY macrame watch strap! Check out her tutorial below, and learn how to turn your watch into a unique and gorgeous fashion accessory.
You Will Need:
How To Make A DIY Macrame Watch Strap:
Roughly measure around your wrist with cord and multiply the measurement by 4, to determine how much cord you’ll need to work with.
Cut 8 lengths of this measurement.
Split the lengths into 2 and tie the cords onto the watch attachments using larks head knots.
Using double half hitch knots, create a v shape, and repeat again to create the double v. Continue the double half hitch knots to each side to create an x shape and then secure the ends in a square knot formation 1/2/1.
Secure the square knots with double half hitch knots.
Tie the ends in a tight knot, and carefully trim the ends that are inside the watch strap, leaving just 4 cords on each side.
Tie the remaining ends together using a scaffold knot from one of the cut pieces.
Try the watch on your own wrist for size, and trim the ends to desired length, to complete the project.
And there you have it – one super-stylish DIY watch strap that’s bound to get noticed… everyone will want to know where you bought it!
